Registration FAQs
For Solo Events

Parents can register entrants across all Solo events, including Duo, Trio and Quartet sections. Specific details on how to register, particularly when registering in a Duo, Trio or Quartet section, are available on the registration platform. Parents / Carers must register their own child in each section to ensure appropriate permissions are given, as students require parental consent to enter the Eisteddfod.

Teachers may assist parents by registering students in Solos and any Duo, Trio or Quartet section performing in the April holidays. Teachers must have consent to do so, but may create the registration. It is recommended any entry a teacher creates for a student is shared via the Collaborator feature on the registration platform so parents can view the entry also.

STUDENTS ARE NOT PERMITTED TO ENTER THEMSELVES.

For Ensemble Events (School Groups)

Only teachers may register Ensembles. Parents may not enter any group in the Ensemble sections.

Go to the Registration platform and register or sign in.

Each entry for a section requires a separate form. Once an entry is created, parents/carers may wish to use the Copy function on the registration platform to create subsequent entries which will mean you will not have to fill out all the personal details on multiple entries for your child.

Each participant in a Duo, Trio or Quartet section must be registered separately.
EG. If two students wish to join Dance for Two, each student must be registered by their own parent/carer or teacher to ensure permission is given for each student. A parent/carer may not enter another student who is not their own child. If siblings are entered, please also ensure you fill out a separate entry for each child.

No. Students cannot register themselves. This is to ensure students have parental consent to be involved in the SCS Eisteddfod.

Students who do enter themselves will have their entry rejected by the system moderators and no notification will be sent. These entries will not be scheduled for participation.

You can edit your entry until the registration deadline. If you have submitted your entry and you need to make changes (before the registration close deadline), you must contact the Eisteddfod Team to have your entry reverted to In-Progress.

Late entries are only accepted under special circumstances (e.g. illness, bereavement) and at the discretion of the Eisteddfod Team.

Preparation FAQs

Solos:

Soloists may enter up to three different sections. Sections refer to the numbered sections available – ie 45. Jazz Dance Solo, 14. Acoustic Guitar Solo, etc.

This can be in the same category or span multiple categories. Ie three dance entries (all in Dance Category), or two vocal entries (Vocal Category) plus one Instrumental (Instrumental Category).

A solo student may not enter the same section more than once. Eg. Each student is only permitted in one Dance For Two entry in total, not multiple dance pairings.

A single Duo, Trio or Quartet entry counts as one of the three entries permitted per solo student.

*Students who are entered in solo sections may still perform in any number of ensemble sections, but must be entered by a teacher at the school as part of a group/ensemble.

Teachers – Ensembles:

Ensemble sections have no entry limit and may be entered in as many sections as the teacher/s choose.

The majority of each ensemble group needs to be comprised of different students within a section.

All material must be age-appropriate, suitable for a school audience and reflect Sydney Catholic Schools ethos. Explicit content will result in point deductions.

Specific requirements are detailed in the Section Guidelines under the Ensemble/Solo tabs across the top.

Adjudication is based on the performance of the material submitted, so an accurate representation of your piece (be it a monologue, a piano item, or a song you are singing) must be provided.

Scores, scripts, and backing tracks must be uploaded by the registration deadline and named correctly. Point deductions apply if the required script, score or track is not provided at point of registration.

School uniform or age-appropriate performance attire. Costumes must preserve the dignity of the performer.

Part of the experience of the Eisteddfod is following the rules of registration and submission of your material. Proper performance preparation in integral. Submitting your registration with an obviously incorrect attachment will result in a point deduction on the day of performance.

Changing repertoire on the day will similarly result in a point deduction.

If you need to change your submitted attachment under special circumstances, you must contact the Eisteddfod Team to avoid the point deduction.

Onsite & Performance FAQs

Solo events are at Southern Cross Catholic College, Burwood.

Ensemble events are held at various host schools listed in the information in each section.

Solo: 30 minutes before your section starts.

Ensemble: 60 minutes before your section starts.

Parents may attend all solo events. Students are under the care of their parent or guardian while onsite for events – the Eisteddfod is considered a public event, and only while backstage is the entrant under the care of the Eisteddfod Team.

Ensemble events are closed to parents unless they are approved helpers. Schools must send through all approved parents helper details in advance, you may not arrive on the day without prior approval to be onsite.

No. Teachers, Parents and Entrants must bring their own food and drinks.

Water stations are available in every venue.

We highly advise you leave ample time to arrive prior to your section’s advertised start time. On occasion we do run early, and very rarely run late, so ensuring you are onsite 30 or 60 minutes ahead of your section is recommended.

We are unable to hold a section start time due to late arrivals. If you arrive late but adjudication of your section has not yet taken place, you will still be able to perform, however you may not have time to warm up.

If you arrive after your section has finished, we will try and assist by placing you in another similar section you may be able to compete in. This may mean competing against older or more experienced students.

If you need to withdraw your entry, as a courtesy please contact the Eisteddfod Team as soon as you are aware you need to withdraw. If this is on the day for any reason, please email us so we are aware you will not be attending.
