DESCRIPTION:Event Name: Contemporary Music Ensemble\nLocation: Marist Catholic College Penshurst Hall\nSection Number: 2 \nGeneral Category Guidelines:\n1 piece only to be performed. \nReasonable additional time will be granted for setup\, soundcheck and pack down. This time must not exceed 3 minutes in total. \nBacking tracks are not permitted in this section. \nTeachers/tutors/non-students are permitted to accompany or perform in primary school music ensembles. \nTeachers/tutors/non-students are NOT permitted to accompany or perform in any secondary school music ensembles. \nRepertoire should be appropriate for all ages – language and themes should be in keeping with a school age audience\, and comply with SCS mission\, vision and values. \nSection Specific Guidelines:\nPerformer Limit:\n4-20 Performers \nTime stipulations – performances must not exceed:\nYear 3-10: 4 minutes\nYear 11-12: 5 minutes\nPerformance will be stopped at 1 minute after time. \nProvided Equipment:\n4 Vocal Microphones \nAmbient/Instrumental Microphones \nMusic Stands & Chairs \n2 Guitar amp | 1 Bass amp \n1 Standard Drum Kit \n2 Keyboards \nPerformers/schools WILL supply any further amplification or effects required i.e. distortion pedal. \nPerformers/schools must advise of any additional amplification/effects to be used in their performance as part of their registration. \nSchools are encouraged to bring any equipment that is specific to your performance if it has particular settings – such as a keyboard with sounds or tones that you rehearse with. \nJudging Criteria:\n\nIntonation.\nRhythm.\nEnsemble balance/blend.\nDynamics and articulation appropriate to style.\nEnsemble awareness (eg following leader\, interaction with ensemble).\n\nImmediate Point Deductions:\n\n2 point deduction per 30 seconds over time.\n2 point deduction for using any pre-recorded music.\n2 point deduction for Teachers playing a significant musical part in Primary sections (more than accompanying).\n2 point deduction for setup and strike longer than 3 minutes.\n2 point deduction for inappropriate content or themes.\n100% points deduction for any explicit language\, and no places will be awarded\, only written feedback
