DESCRIPTION:Event Name: Vocal Duo\, Trio\, Quartet\nLocation: Southern Cross Burwood – Recording Studio / Auditorium\nSection Number: 30 \nGeneral Category Guidelines:\n1 piece only to be performed. \nA copy of your music score must be provided at point of registration. \nAccompaniment may be provided by a backing track or by a solo pianist/instrumentalist. Performers must provide their own piano/instrumental accompanist and backing tracks. \nBacking tracks must be instrumental tracks only with no vocal lines. See General Participation Guidelines for backing track submission requirements. Backing Tracks will be played by the onsite technician on the day. \nAll lyrics should be memorised including for self accompaniment. \nRepertoire should be appropriate for all ages – language and themes should be in keeping with a school age audience\, and comply with SCS mission\, vision and values. \nMay be performed with or without accompaniment (a cappella). \nMay be performed with or without a microphone. \nEntrants must be from the same school. \nSection Specific Guidelines:\nPerformer stipulations:\n2-4 performers \nTime stipulations – performances must not exceed:\nYears 3-10 (ages 7 – 16): 4 minutes\nYears 11-12 (ages 16-18): 5 minutes\nPerformances will be stopped at 1 minute over time \n  \nEntries must exhibit singing in 2-part harmony at minimum. \nEach entrant in this section must be entered individually by a parent or guardian. Within that registration\, each other performer’s name must be listed to corroborate entries. \nFor the purposes of scheduling sections\, age and performer experience will be based on the oldest and/or most experienced performer in a group. \n  \nProvided Equipment:\nUp to 4 Microphones (hand held or on stand) \nGrand Piano \nDirect Input for guitars \nMusic stands \nChair for other instrumental accompaniment \n***Please note\, headset microphones are not available for any Vocal Solo Section*** \nJudging Criteria:\n\nIntonation – pitch\, tuning\, tonal quality.\nRhythm\, timing\, overall structure.\nPerformance expression\, memorisation and confidence.\nDynamics and articulation appropriate to style.\nEnsemble awareness including communication with accompanist/ familiarity with backing track.\nChoice of repertoire suitable for stage and ability.\nRepertoire performed correctly represents the section genre.\n\nImmediate Point Deductions:\n\n1 point for not providing a score of the song being performed\n2 point deduction per 20 seconds over time.\n2 point deduction for inappropriate content or themes\n100% points deduction for any explicit language\, and no places will be awarded\, only written feedback.
